The Virtual Home of PF Flyer
(What's new?) Not much. 12/28/2006
I had a shortened motorsports season for '06, both as an instructor and crew member.
Many aspects of family life needed the time and attention to heal and grow stronger
going forward into the '07 season.

The long block in PF Flyer is currently the 'Back-Up'. It's a GM Mr. Goodwrench 350.
It still has the 'AC Delete' and 'Air Pump Delete' option and the TPIS remote engine
oil cooler adapter that's hooked up to an Earls cooler using AN-10 lines. The 'Power'
long block has gone thru it's autopsy. It spun the #3 main bearing. The block and
crank were junk and have been recycled. A used short block is being considered for
replacement of the 'Power Motor'. Assembly and installation will be considered for
sometime in the early Spring, after the season opener at VIR in Feb, '07.
Induction includes the Hypertech 'airfoil', ported plenum, SLP runners and an
Edelbrock Hi-Flow base, along with a homemade 'cold-air' induction area using the
factory air intakes on the hood.
The exhaust consists of Jet-Hot coated SLP 1 5/8" stainless steel headers led to a 3"
'Y' pipe connected to a Hi-Flo (re: gutted) cat and out thru a base 4th Gen SS
'cat-back' exhaust.
The drivetrain has been converted to a 5-spd, utilizing a Centerforce dual-friction
clutch assembly, with an aluminum driveshaft that connects to a BW 9-bolt (3:27)
and a Random Tech torque arm works to keep it all planted.
The suspension has Spohn weld-in SFC's, adj LCA's (with re-location brackets) and
an adj PanHard rod. In addition, there are Ground Control height adjusters front and
rear, w/ERS 850 lb/in springs and TPIS re-valved struts in the front and ERS 175 lb/in
springs and Tokico shocks rear. The rest of the front suspension has all new poly
A-arm bushings, Guldstrand 36mm sway bar bushings and end links and a factory
'WonderBar' installed.
The brakes have all been converted to the 1LE setup, using PBR calipers and 12"
rotors. The pads are Hawk Performance and the racing lug bolts are from GMPP.
For the tires & wheels you'll find 16 x 8 factory GTA cross-laced wheels with 'R'
compound Hoosiers, for the dry, and a second set of the GTA cross-laced wheels with
Goodyear GS-C's for the rain.
Misc.: The car has been converted to a full time 'track' car. If it doesn't make the car
go faster or stop consistently, it's been removed. The battery has been relocated to
the rear well and a roll-bar installed, along with Simpson 5 pt harnesses.
